"We had a wonderfull time recently joining in a community project run by Trish Vella Burrows from Sing United called Dots and Dashes we joined in with members of the centre for the retired and children from local schools, we learnt how to do tia chi - qi gong (sounds like a mouthfull but very relaxing) some of our members and Castle Community School children also went out and about and recorded all sorts of things like the sound of the sea,birdsong, bells,etc and after a session in a recording studio this was made into a relaxation cd for us to perform our qi gong routine to,and finally we all got together at the landmark centre where we performed what we had learnt and were joined by about 200 people who had taken part in this project,others had been practising to perform singing, dancing,poetry and music,it was a real mix of people from different generations with different disabilities and from all walks of life and a great time was had by everyone.
The project ran for about 3 months and was greatly enjoyed by all so much so that Trish from sing United has managed to start up a singing group for our members ,carers and relatives that will be held every Monday 1.30pm - 2.30pm at the old Exchange ,Stanhope Road ,Deal,anyone interested in coming along and joining in the fun can contact us on the details below."
